Retail Sales Manager Position
Who we are:
Summit Bicycles Inc is a premier retail and service business primarily focused on mainstream and specialty bicycles. Established in 1922, Summit Bicycles has evolved many times throughout the years. Today, we are an ambitious and focused business with a keen eye of potential pivots in the industry. All of our stores have been remodeled within the past three years, punctuating our commitment to continually improving the business.
What makes a great Sales Manager:
Enthusiasm and focus on developing the business will go a long way. As our newest store, Santa Clara has the most growth potential. In order to realize this potential, a great sales manager will establish a level of professionalism and focus on the core goals:
- Grow the reputation of the business (online and word of mouth)
- Grow sales
- Build a community around the shop
- Maintain and expand the profitability of the store
Who you are:
Our successful managers have a number of consistent qualities:
Positive, outgoing demeanor. You should see the opportunity in challenges.
Great team players within each store, and between managers. You should know that it is great to ask for help, and even more important to offer it.
Leaders first. Even if you don’t know the answer, you should be the leader in finding it. Show your team that you are there to work together and point the way, NOT do the work for them
Able to identify and manage customer’s experience. You should know how to prevent a disgruntled customer through their demeanor.
Retail experience is required. Bicycle shop experience is not.
Some experience with riding bicycles is required, but you do not need to be performance athlete. You should, however, be comfortable communicating with high performance customers.
Experience and comfort with cloud and local based file storage, document, and email services is required. Email is the main conduit of communication between stores and with slow developing sales leads.
This is a Full Time position, though overtime may be required for sales and special events
You will be paid a commission based on store sales, with monthly bonuses for hitting those goals. Compensation numbers range based on performance from $40,000 to $70,000 per year.
We provide full training on product, management, business, customer interactions, etc. As part of your initial training, we will fly you to Wisconsin for a Retail Manager’s training school taught by the head executives of Trek Bicycles.
