Ian: Hey everyone, Ian and Pancho here from Summit Bicycles along with Tucker. And we are doing a review on Santa Cruz's new Tallboy it's quite different just got released today. And we're going to get right to it. How you doing Pancho? Good. How are you?

Pancho: Very good. So what's so different? Everything is different. I mean, they went into the lower link design, like you find on mega tower, Nomad, Bronson, etc, Hightower, all that stuff. And they slugging it out a lot, like a lot a lot. So it's a 65 and a half to rehab angle. So for 30 mil adjustable before 40 mil chains day and for 70 millimeter reach in a size large like we have here today.

Ian: Yeah, what's the official traveling from the bike?

Pancho: It's a 120mm rear. So still trial by category 130mm front with a new Pike, which feels fantastic if you guys haven't written the new pike or a lyric to go spend some time on there. They're fantastic words. Yeah.

Ian: And what's that head to bangle

Pancho: again? 65 and a half. Pretty, pretty obvious when you get that first corner.

Ian: Yeah. Yeah, that's, that's spot on with the Bronson. Right? Or at least.

Pancho: Yeah, I mean, now they're starting to like overlap a lot, right? Like you're seeing 65.7 in the high 65.5 in the low and that's going to overlap with Hightower little bit. And so yeah, they're all kind of getting close, but still their own bikes respectively.

Ian: Yeah. I certainly noticed that had to be angle in every corner. But it didn't feel like it still climbed very, very well.

Pancho: Yeah, I thought it's still climb like the tall boy, old. I mean, it's light responsive, and really good climb position when you're on the attack going up? Not that I can attack going up. But for those that can it still does the same thing.

Ian: Yeah. And other cool thing is the tire club on this is pretty big.

Pancho: Yeah, its massive. I mean, depending on the tire brand of your choosing, it'll fit up to a 29 my 2.6. So massive. My clearance if you're just running your standard to 35.

Ian: Yep. Yeah. And bike has to flip chips. Again, similar to the McLaren Hightower correct. Yeah.

Pancho: And the chain Sagan from 430 mil to 440 mil and then in the lower link to go from high to low.

Ian: Yeah. And what was the exact model that we rode today?

Pancho: This is the CC X01 the carbon reserve wheels. Not the highest end, but kind of out there. It's a fantastic build speced really well,

Ian: certainly one of our most popular ones. And Santa Cruz typically focuses on just the carbon models on releases, but they're doing a little differently this time.

Pancho: Yeah. So they're doing full spectrum like aluminum bikes all the way to the super Gucci carbon CC, XX one reserve, which is axis wireless shifting on that one. But the aluminum D kits are starting at 2700 bucks, and then the high end bike is going to be right around 10. Four.

Ian: Yeah. Tallboy, at least for us has been one of the motor, more popular platforms from Santa Cruz. So having all the models, right from lunch is super helpful. Yeah,

Pancho: it's great. It attacks every single price point, every type of customer who wants to trail bike and being that this bike is so versatile. I mean, it makes sense to have that larger demographic to sell to

Ian: Yep, yep. Really good. There's a number of cool other little features on the frame. You have to tell us about those.

Pancho: Yeah, so I really liked that they do a thread bottom bracket as somebody who tries to work on the bike, and I emphasize the try to work on their bike part. It's easier to keep it clean, keep it running silent. I tend to get some critiques of the bottom bracket is a press fit, depending on the making model. The guard over the shock keeps it nice and tidy. And then the chains a protector keeps the bike real quiet. So I got a new design on that.

Ian: Yeah, it seemed to be standard features ever since the mega tower.

Pancho: Yeah, it's all good things moving forward.

Ian: What are the different shock options that you could run on this bike?

Pancho: Well, the bike comes stock with a fox float, but you can fit a DPX two in there if you're a big fan of the external reservoir and do those longer now there's a sense you can't fit a float x two there's not enough room in the channel. But they don't make a size for this mic anyway. So no big deal there. Yeah, it is a tall boy. Correct. You're not you're not running this in Northstar. Yeah, you could but typically not

Ian: Yeah, and last but not least, colors.

Pancho: Yeah, the most important part of any bike. This is Rocksteady yellow, which I think looks better the dirty or it gets wasn't a huge fan of it right on the box. But now that we've ridden a couple times I've been looking at it it's definitely starting to grow on me. I really like it now. The other option is a Stormbringer purple, which is a really deep dark, kind of almost black purple. I haven't seen that one yet, but it looks Kairos Yeah, yeah, I've heard it's really sharp color.

Ian: Yeah, yeah. Alright, that's gonna wrap it up for us on Santa Cruz's new Tallboy. Go ahead and give us a call. shoot us an email stop by the store. We have demo bikes for you to try. And we'll see you soon. Thanks, guys. Thank you, bye. Yeah, that's

Ian: alright, that's gonna wrap it up for a horrible Loutro.

Pancho: Try that one more time.
