What's new on the Cervélo S5?
The Cervélo S5 got some sweet upgrades for the new model release.

New Frame design
Cervélo keeps pushing the limits and there are a number of changes to the S5 frame design that all add up to more speed.
Thanks to new UCI regulations, the S5 sports even deeper aero profiles on the headtube and bottom bracket, creating a larger surface area that keeps the drag to a minimum. Plus, the tube shapes have been dialed in further across the entire frame.
The front of the bike has seen some tweaks (see below) and the rear dropout was also cleaned up now that the S5 is designed for entirely electronic shifting.
New fork & Cockpit
The new 2023 Cervélo S5 has a redesigned fork/stem integration that's much easier to adjust and lighter to boot.
If you want to swap to a longer, more aggressive stem, you'll have a lot less headaches than with the previous model, as Cervélo has streamlined the integration to only use one bolt size and the included spacers.
They also redesigned the bar/stem shape to achieve a completely flat bar-to-hood transition.
Plus, you'll have infinite adjustments within 5° of rotation to get the fit just right. You'll be saving 53g with this system too.
The new models are coming stock with a 15mm offset seatpost instead of 25mm, staying with the trend of most pro bike fitters who are now preaching shorter offsets.
New Reserve Wheels
Cervélo worked with Reserve Wheels to co-develop the new Reserve 52/63 wheelset, which is about 5 watts faster than the previous 50/65 combo.
The best R&D in cycling has concluded that wider road wheels and tires are aerodynamically faster, and it certainly doesn't hurt that they're more comfortable too.
Complete bikes come with 28mm tires, but this wheelset and frame accommodates up to 34mm. That extra width will give you the confidence to ride faster thanks to the extra stability.
All said and done, compared to the old wheels, the new Reserve 52/63 combo is 50g faster in laminar flow and 54g faster in turbulence.
