Off road geometry

Keep scrolling for the full geometry chart, but Trek Checkpoint's geometry has been dialed in to be super stable and capable on descents and rough roads while remaining nimble and fun.

Trek Checkpoint Geometry

The Trek Checkpoint benefits from the progressive Trek gravel bike geometry, which allows these bikes to be super fast and capable when the going gets tough. A slacker head tube, longer front center, and lower bottom bracket than the previous version allows the rider to remain extra stable on chunky trails and fast descents.

Trek Checkpoint FAQs

What is a gravel bike anyway?

The basic idea is a high-performance bicycle that is designed specifically to excel on rough ground (as opposed to a paved road or path). Gravel bikes typically have clearance for wider tires, lower bottom brackets, more upright positions, and longer wheelbases than typical road bikes. They also have slightly taller head tubes and slacker head tube angles.

What kind of performance should I expect from a Trek gravel bike?

You want a gravel bike to give you a better ride when you leave the road – with measurements that will better handle the jostling that can arrive with uneven surfaces. You should be able to get on the bike and trek across miles and miles of gravel roads without the trip becoming uncomfortable.

WHAT TIRE SIZE COMES STOCK ON THE CHECKPOINT LINE AND WHAT IS THE MAX TIRE SIZE?

All Checkpoint models come stock with 40c tires, but they can accommodate tires from 28c-45c.

CAN 650B TIRES BE USED?

While Trek recommends 700c for this bike?, you can run up 2.1" 650b tires.

WHY SKIP ISOSPEED ON ALR MODELS?

Our development research indicated that IsoSpeed contributes to Checkpoint’s ultra-smooth ride, but the bike’s ability to run super-wide tires (up to 45c) provides the largest gains in compliance. We wanted to offer a Checkpoint model for riders at every price point, and were impressed with the bike’s ride quality both with and without Rear IsoSpeed.

WHERE IS THE FRONT ISOSPEED ON THE SL MODELS?

Compared to platforms like Domane and Boone, where riders will primarily run skinnier tires, the wider tires size most riders will prefer to run on Checkpoint provide ample compliance on the bike’s front end.

DOES BLENDR COME STOCK ON CHECKPOINT?

Yes, Blendr integration seamlessly mounts lights, computers, and GoPro cameras to the handlebar, keeping everything zip tie-free and in its place.

WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?

49cm, 52cm, 54cm, 56cm, 58cm, & 61cm

Can I set this bike up with tubeless tires?

Yes. All Checkpoint models can be easily converted to run tubeless with Bontrager TLR rim strips for all models. SL and SLR models include tubeless-ready tires, ALR models do not.

IS CHECKPOINT DUOTRAP S COMPATIBLE?

It is not.

CAN I ADD A RACK AND FENDERS?

Heck yeah, you can totally rock a rack and fenders! Hardware for vanishing fender mounts is included with the bike.

CAN I INSTALL A KICKSTAND?

No.

DOES THIS BIKE COME WITH BAGS?

No, but there are bosses/mounts covering the bike. Rider’s choice! We recommend our 720 dry bags on the fork.

DOES THIS BIKE COME WITH PEDALS?

No.

WHAT SIZE TIRES CAN I RUN ON THIS BIKE?

700 x 28c to 700 x 45c. Gravel tires work like a dream with this bike.

How many water bottle cages fit on the bike frame?

This depends on frame size. All frames come with mounts for four bottle cages (three in the main triangle, one beneath the downtube), but frame sizes 54cm and below may not accommodate a full-size water bottle on the upper main triangle mount. We'd recommend running a storage bottle in this spot.

WHAT IS THE RIDER WEIGHT LIMIT FOR THE TREK CHECKPOINT?

Recommended rider weight limit of 275 lbs.

WHAT’S WITH THE ASYMMETRICAL CHAINSTAY?

Gravel riders want to run big tires with road drivetrains. Because road cranksets are narrow, something has to give. The asymmetrical drop-stay provides extra clearance without compromising chainstay length or handling.

WHICH MODELS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO CUSTOMIZE IN PROJECT ONE?

Checkpoint is currently available in Project One for SL and SLR models.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY ON CHECKPOINT?

Trek’s offers the cycling world’s best warranty through Trek Care. Just be sure to register bikes! Trek Care pairs a lifetime frame warranty with limited warranties on parts. Details can be found here.
