The Santa Cruz Hightower AL S is a go-anywhere, ride-anything trail bike that can’t stand to be lumped into a single category. It’s an efficient yet rowdy choice for XC trails, as well as a capable downhill destroyer. If you’re not sure what your next bike should be, go ahead and get the Hightower and thank us later.
Check out the great features below:
Lightweight aluminum frame
This Hightower model utilizes Santa Cruz’s best aluminum for a great combination of stiffness, strength, and weight savings while avoiding the jump to a full carbon price point. With internal cable routing and killer colors, this Hightower looks gorgeous and rides like a dream.
*Mid* travel suspension
While technically this bike may get designated as a mid travel trail bike, the lower-link VPP suspension system ensures that the Hightower is capable of so much more. You’ll get every millimeter out of the 140mm rear travel for a bottomless feel for big hits along with killer progressivity for staying efficient while pedaling. Plus, with 150m up front, you’ll feel right at home sending scary lines and huge drops.
Dual wheel size compatibility
There’s nothing better than having options, and with the Hightower AL S you can swap between fast and furious 29ers or beefy 27.5+ wheels.
Dialed geometry for maximum fun
With a slacker 65° head tube you’ll be sitting in the driver’s seat of a downhilling monster truck, and the 76-77° seat tube angle puts you in the best position to climb back up so you can do it all over again.
A dropper seatpost allows you to quickly lower and raise your seat to give you an ideal riding position. Dropping your seat creates a lower center of gravity for better control and maneuverability on steep descents, while raising it puts you at normal riding height for efficient pedaling.
Construction can include either hydraulic- or cable-actuated systems and the post’s travel can either be infinitely adjustable or stopped at set intervals, depending on the model.
Dropper seatposts come in standard lengths and diameters and vary by the amount of travel.
